Ultrasound imaging is safe and painless. Also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, Ultrasound is a method of obtaining images from inside the human body using high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum images a male’s testicles and surrounding tissues. This exam can help evaluate disorders of the testicles, epididymis (tubes immediately next to the testicles that collect sperm) and the scrotum.
